The Petone clients wanted a modern outdoor space with a new pool that could be enjoyed year-round by both teenagers and adults. To make room, the rear garage was removed and replaced with a pool surrounded by fresh paving. Groundbreakers Landscaping then built a pool house featuring an outdoor shower, a new south-facing window, and a clear polycarbonate roof to let in natural light.

For safety and style, frameless glass fencing was installed around the pool. An automated retractable pool cover was cleverly concealed within a newly built timber deck, which also doubles as a sunbathing platform and diving spot. Extending from the back of the house, a large pine deck with integrated planter boxes and stair access connects seamlessly to the paved areas and new lawn.

At the rear boundary, a fresh fence with a bamboo screen sets the backdrop for a striking outdoor fireplace. In front of it, a louvered pergola creates an all-weather entertaining zone. Tropical plantings throughout the garden were chosen to mature into a lush, holiday-like retreat.

Pathways tie the design together: an exposed aggregate concrete path connects to the side of the house, while stepping stones across the lawn lead to the front. A new fence and gate separate the front and back gardens, ensuring the area is dog-safe. Finally, the driveway was refreshed with paver accents and exposed aggregate bays for a polished finish.
